“Thank you so much, my God! Thank you!”
Would it be much of an overstatement if I would say that Kate Winslet winning the Academy Award for Best Actress (finally) was the best moment of the whole evening? All right, her win and Dustin Lance Black’s acceptance speech for winning Best Original Screenplay for Milk. At both I teared up like a big ol’ softie.
Just to share with you how she ended her speech, I’ll post the following beautiful words.
“Anthony [Minghella] and Sydney [Pollack], this is for you. This is for both of you. And I want to acknowledge my fellow nominees, these goddesses. I think we all can’t believe we’re in a category with Meryl Streep at all. I’m sorry, Meryl, but you have to just suck that up! And, just to the Academy, thank you so much, my God! Thank you!”1
"Hey, I just wanted to — Wait. Where did the commenting form go?"
So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
