Busy as a red-hot bumblebee

Yeah, yeah, I know I have been a bit absent for the last couple of days. Stop bugging me with your annoying curiosity! I’ve actually been keeping myself pretty busy with all kinds of things. It’s the end of the first period of the first semester (no, really, that’s how I should refer to it officially) and I have essays to finish within hours of their deadlines, and exams to ace or fail.

But that’s not all. No, because I’m moving again, for the fourth time in a year. Last year I moved to Groningen from Creil; in May I moved back from Groningen to Creil; in July I moved from Creil to Almere; and now I’m moving again, from our temporary maisonette to our new house (also in Almere, but in a completely different part of the city). Jolly! I could quit the university and start a moving business!

On top of that, I’m also preparing my first publishable short story, which I’ll submit for actual publication in a renowned literary magazine!1 (Why would I otherwise write “publishable”? Keep up, will you!) Don’t know why I’m so freaking excited about it, I haven’t even sent it yet so nothing is set; and the probability of my short actually being published is very small (I think). But there at least is a probability factor. So yes, also trying to work on that.

But I shouldn’t bitch. At least I have my health… well, my … mind? No. Uhm, my teacup? Not really what I’m going for here. Have to think of something positive… iMac? Yes! At least I still have my iMac.

Footnotes

  1. I’ll write a longer post about this when I have the time. The literary magazine I’m sending it to will be The Paris Review. []

So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
