Let’s pretend for the sake of this post that you exist, God, and that Christianity is your true representation on Earth. Many people have said to me, and I’ve read a lot, that your religion is a place where questions about life and why we’re here on this Earth are answered. Now, it’s convenient that you exist for a moment here, because I like asking questions, a whole lot of questions actually.
Like, why is there evil in this world? Is it to balance out the good, is it to show man its own shortcomings? Did you put evil on the world for sheer entertainment value, to make things more interesting? Why is evil defined as evil and good as good? Why isn’t helping people evil — why is being corrupt wrong? With what reasons was that separation created?
Jesus died for mankind’s sins, right? But every day someone dies somewhere in the world because of evil-doing. Don’t they also die for mankind’s sins? When a soldier protects his country (which in his or her eyes is “good”) and they die in battle, haven’t they also knowingly died for mankind’s sins? So why is it that they’re not holy, sacred and your Sons and Daughters?
Now that we’re on that subject, why is it that Jesus is your only Son, but everyone else is also called “children of God,” but they’re not your “Sons and Daughters”? That thought is a bit scrambled, but you get the point. Considering there is no empirical proof, and there will never be, of Jesus’ relation with you, how can he be considered a Son of God? Just because he (apparently) was a righteous and good man, who preached peace and caring, that automatically makes him your Son?
Going back to Jesus dying for mankind’s sins. Why was that even necessary when you have omnipotent powers? Couldn’t you just bestow your teachings on mankind through some mind-impregnation process? Oh, right, “free will.” But, free will is not really an issue there. Omnipotent powers means omnipotent powers. Free will is overruled by omnipotence, isn’t it? Unless you have limits to your powers. Do you? How far do your powers go?
Why do you allow gangsters to be followers of your faith? They sure as hell have evil characterizations, but almost always belong to your Christian faith. Can’t you just exclude them from your faith, turn them into atheist or something? And why do you even allow atheist to exist in the first place? In your eyes they must be evil, always pushing your buttons. Is it because you want mankind to see both sides, is it just for the sake of balance? Or maybe you allow atheists to exist because many believers become even more faithful to you when they encounter, discuss with and talk to atheists? Perhaps.
When it comes to communicating with you, why can’t I? Is there a reason Catholic priests can talk with you, but I can’t? Related, why do I need to go to confession in a Roman Catholic church, why aren’t I able to directly settle matters with you? Why do I even need to confess, aren’t you all-knowing? Protestants confess their sins directly to you, why isn’t that line of communication open to Roman Catholics? Who is right in this matter, the Protestants, the Catholics, or the Jews who confess their sins as a group; they say “We have sinned” instead of “I have sinned,” why is that?
Here is another question for you, not asked by me but I still want an answer:
The Ten Commandments: “Thou shalt not kill.” Didn’t you order Moses to do a lot of killing? Why did you do this if it violates one of ‘your’ commandments? Why did he wipe out entire cities, kill all the men and rape the women and children?1
If your religion really presents answers to many of our questions, I’m open to suggestions on these! Please, I want to know.

So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
