Classic simplicity replaces modern simplicity

As I was browsing the website of New York magazine, I rediscovered my love for a more classic style of web design. Though I love modern typefaces, nothing says “look at me being elegant” more than a good old serif, like Georgia. Totally bogus text suddenly seems intimate and insightful when put in classic design.

That is why I have switched to yet another different design. You’ll remember the last time I did this, primarily because it was only sixteen days ago. I went for a more “futuristic” and modern look, with a little bit more colour. Now I’m replacing all the sans serifs with serifs, eliminating all the backgrounds, changing the header styles, and making the site look more intimate and insightful (only in design, of course).

The fact that I’m changing designs isn’t the only thing common to today and sixteen days ago. Just like then, I’m watching “Ally McBeal” while doing it! Though I guess I should point out that back then I just started watching season one, and I am finishing season four now (Robert Downey Jr. is such a cutie-pie).

"Hey, I just wanted to — Wait. Where did the commenting form go?"

So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
