I Heart California Supreme Court

Today the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved gay marriage ban. Which would make California the largest American state and the second one overall to allow same-sex marriages. You know me, as a happy gay myself I’m all for same-sex marriages and all that equality jazz. So I mark today as a positive day in Equality Around the Globe-madness.

Sure, it’s pretty obvious all the crazies who are against same-sex marriage will create the situation in which the US Supreme Court will step in and evaluate, etc., but will it be overturned then? I don’t think so — I don’t hope so. Lets all hope this will mean more than it means now. Maybe this will be the boost, the push in the back that will lead to all American states, and eventually the world over, accepting tolerance.

By the way, I don’t know who said this first, but the following about self-proclaimed “family value followers” (i.e. “crazy weirdos with too many time on their hands, who are scared the gays will take over the world — Satan-style”) has always brought a smile to my face: “Why do they care so much that same-sex couples want to get married? It’s not like the gays are going to marry them!” True, so true.

"Hey, I just wanted to — Wait. Where did the commenting form go?"

So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
