Musical Tragedy “Hamlet 2″

I love musicals. I love satire. I love tragedies. I love comedy. I don’t love sequels, and thank god that Hamlet 2 is everything mentioned before, except for that last one. Even though it’s hard to combine musical, satire, tragedy, comedy and drama into one movie, and at the same time keep the material quality high, it is done sometimes. Could it be that this Andy Fleming directed movie is one of the few that get it done?

Why are you asking me that, it’s not even out?! Damn. I can say that the trailer looks really, really promising. Sure, some scenes look like hot messes, but overall it looks like a great experience. The fact that it was the subject of a bidding war at the Sundance Film Festival (Focus Features eventually won with $10 million), similar to that of Little Miss Sunshine‘s, makes it also look promising!

By the way, could it be possible that in Hamlet 2, Amy Poehler has her debut role as a dignified feature film character?

So, I stopped doing comments on my blog. Twitter, Facebook, and good-old e-mail do a much better job, in my experience and opinion.
